Broadcasting from JAOU Tunis

Ahead of the May festival and symposium JAOU Tunis 28-31 May 2015 two preview podcasts detailing the need for - and the intent of - such a gathering are online below. More conversations made on the ground at the Symposium are set to be broadcast on air at UK's art-music radio station Resonance104.4FM, London by Chris Weaver and I this May.

Tunis, while cited at the only free country in the Arab world, is currently the largest exporter of young men to ISIS, was the subject of an attack on tourists outside the main museum of Tunis this March. The killings have not stopped the festival from taking place, as it has each year, at the Bardo, but have instead shaped the line of address and the intent of the conversations that will take place.

Artists, arts writers, curators, choreographers, broadcaster and performers gather in the Bardo Museum of Tunis city, to discuss art in the age of conflict.

Existing podcasts are with the founder Lina Lazaar:

And Sultan Al Qassemi, leading commentator and writer for as well as MIT fellow and director and founder of Barjeel, an art foundation in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE.
