For one month now Chris Weaver and I have had a studio space at Tashkeel gallery, and relocated to the Middle East. The gallery is working with us on a year's programme of major sound art works and side projects. Dubai's intense summer heat allows us to minimise distractions, at least during the day. To create an instrument I used to perform on in the UK, I've cut down a large branch to prepare. Luckily the gallery is in the outskirts of the city, with open skylines, a lot of sand, electricity pylons and trees.
September we will run an evening series of films and discussions on sound art. Tashkeel's launching a new website then so they will announce details there.
Meanwhile I continue to broadcast on arts and culture in the Middle East on Six Pillars and experimental electronica on Free Lab Radio, both on the UK's first art-music station Resonance104.4FM
