Audio Portrait - London Transport

Two journeys: up the Thames and along the silver Jubilee line, interwoven with 50's audio archive footage about London travel in a bygone era.
The very current narrative from a water boat lighterman about his daily routine and his hopes for the river contrasts with sounds of 50s Britain. The audio pulls invisible threads together, allowing the people of today and yesterday speak with one voice.

"Transport is the complete lifeblood of the city." Oliver Green head curator at The London Transport Museum discusses fascinating pieces in the museum in relation to travel now.

"A silent palace for old sleep, how peacefully the living millions lie. There is no breath no living stir, no cry."
